Why I’m Pausing the Podcast

I’ve talked a lot about the importance of consistency AND the power of taking breaks when you run a private practice

And  I’ve also talked about the importance of self care and the need to change, grow and develop.

So today after 168 consistent weekly episodes, I'm sharing  why I'm pausing the podcast.

It's hard to believe that this is episode 168 of The Grow Your Private Practice Show, my podcast. And it might be even harder to believe if you aren’t a podcast listener and only read these blogs!

The Joy Of Blogging

I’ve always loved writing blogs. Here’s my old blog from when I had a business about self care for people pleasers.

I love the creativity of a blog, and it’s great if you’re an introvert like me because you can stay firmly out of the limelight.

But back in July 2020, I decided to give myself a new challenge and have a go at podcasting. ‘I’ll give it 3 months’ I thought to myself.

Fast forward to now, over 3 years later and 168 weekly episodes under my belt!

Looking back, I remember the mix of excitement and nerves that came with starting this venture. Imposter syndrome wasn't just whispering in my ear; it was SHOUTING.

But I’ve always been a big believer in the power of taking action. So much so that my very first episode was called ‘Action is the Antidote to Fear,’

Action is the antidote to fear

I live by that saying, and I’ve seen the results -

  • I was scared when I started my free facebook group (no longer available)
  • i was scared when I started going live in the group
  • I was scared when I started the Grow Your Private Practice membership
  • I was scared when I started offering live trainings
  • I was scared when I started the podcast

So look, if you feel anxious about doing something new, I’d say just because you’re anxious about doing it doesn't mean you can’t do it. Do it scared! Take action, and you’ll see results.

A Pause for Reflection and Growth

And I now feel that heady mix of excitement and anxiety again, because I’m making some changes in my business.

I’ve decided to press pause on The Grow Your Private Practice Show for a while as I work out how best to take action on my new project.

Why? Well I have some new and exciting changes to make in my business and I need to put my energy into them - so be sure to keep an eye out for them.

It feels a bit scary, but change often does, doesn't it?

Private practice resources for you - for free

As I said, there have been 168 podcasts over the last 3+ years, and I also wrote some blogs before I started the podcast and they are all still available to you.

There are episodes on blogging and content creation, social media, organisation and productivity. I’ve talked about mindset and money mindset.

And I have had some of the most amazing guest experts come and talk with me.

Many were other therapists talking about how they grew their practices. For example, I recently did a mini series and spoke with 4 therapists about running a practice with ADHD, autism, dyslexia or a mixture of those.

And some guests were experts that came with some fabulous tips and ideas about things like websites, social media, dealing with accounts etc.

So why not take a look at the back catalogue and catch up on a few.

You can just browse, or if you take a look to the right 👉 there is a search box for if you want to find something specifically, and also a list of categories for if you are looking for a particular subject.

Your Voice Matters

As I say, I've covered a vast array of topics, from mindset and productivity to social media and content creation, alongside amazing guest experts.

And your feedback is invaluable to me. What resonates with you the most?
