Do you remember how it felt when you first qualified as a counsellor?
You were probably excited. Perhaps a little nervous too. But after years of training, reading, practising and learning, you were finally ready to start the work you'd spent years preparing for.
Then reality arrived.
Not the counselling part. You love that, but the business part. The getting found part.
The trying to work out how websites, directories, blogs, networking and marketing are all supposed to fit together part.
So you start reading advice. You listen to podcasts, join Facebook groups, follow experts and try different things. You're doing your best to learn, but somehow, instead of feeling more confident, you end up feeling more confused.
Everyone seems to have a different opinion. Everyone seems to have a different strategy. And the thing you really want - a thriving private practice filled with clients you genuinely enjoy working with - starts to feel frustratingly out of reach.
The trouble is that when you're surrounded by advice, it's easy to stop trusting yourself. It's easy to get overwhelmed.
Before long, you've become so busy listening to everybody else that you've stopped paying attention to you. The clients you most enjoy working with. The topics that genuinely interest you. The training you're naturally drawn towards. The sort of business you'd love to build.
As counsellors, we see this all the time. We don't tell our clients what to do. We help them explore what's already there, so they can decide what's right for them.
I think we need the same thing in business sometimes. A chance to step back from all the noise, reconnect with ourselves and start trusting our own judgement again.
And sometimes that's difficult to do on your own. Not because you aren't capable of figuring it out, but because you're simply too close to it. The themes, patterns and clues are often already there, hiding in plain sight. It can take somebody outside the situation to notice them, reflect them back to you and help you see what you've been missing.
Step back from the noise, reconnect with what matters, and decide where to put your energy next.
What is Find Your Focus?
A really good conversation over coffee.
Find Your Focus is a chance to step away from all the noise and spend some time thinking about you.

We'll chat.
Well... we'll 'just chat' in exactly the same way counsellors 'just chat' with their clients.
You'll tell me about your business, your work and the things that matter to you. I'll listen carefully, notice the themes and patterns that keep appearing and reflect them back to you.
By the end of the session, you'll have a much better understanding of what's already there and how that helps shape the future of your practice.
Whether you're a newly qualified counsellor or you've been running your private practice for years, Find Your Focus helps you reconnect with what matters and decide where to focus your energy next
Afterwards, I'll send you a summary of what I noticed, along with ideas and recommendations you can refer back to whenever you need them.
Jane's guidance was exactly what I needed to find clarity and direction.
For the first time, I felt like someone really understood where I was coming from, and that made all the difference.
Through her step-by-step approach, I learned to prioritise what needed my attention first and to envision bigger goals for the future.

Why work with me?
Helping counsellors reconnect with what excited them in the first place.

I've been helping counsellors with versions of this work for around 15 years, so although Find Your Focus is a new offer, the work itself certainly isn't.
After running my own practice for 14 years, I opened the Grow Your Private Practice membership, wrote the Grow Your Private Practice book and host The Grow Your Private Practice Show podcast.
Over the years, it's had different names, but the heart of it has always been the same:
Helping counsellors reconnect with what excited them about this work in the first place, identify the people they most enjoy working with and build a practice that feels right for them.
There's something really special about seeing somebody reconnect with the excitement they felt when they first qualified. When they leave feeling excited about their future, proud of the practice they're building and eager to get started, I know we've had a good session.

Ready to get excited about your business again?
If you're drowning in everyone else's opinions and you want to find out where to direct your energy first (spoiler alert - that's probably what YOU want to do and not what other people tell you to do). Let's talk.
Join the waiting list below and I'll let you know as soon as appointments open.
